Both the men's and women's basketball teams saw their postseason come to an end in the Region VII semifinals at Walters State Community College this week.
The No. 7 Lady Cougars fell to No. 2 Motlow State 64-45 on Tuesday, while the No. 6 Cougars were outdone 69-58 by No. 2 Walters State on Wednesday.
After the first half, Cleveland State and the tournament host were tied at 27. Walters State overwhelmed the Cougars' in the second half though, who were only able to put up 31 points to the Senators' 42.
Victor Curry had 25 points and 10 rebounds in the game, while Tevin Olison finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Olison was also named First Team All TCCAA.
In the Lady Cougars loss to Motlow State, Julia Gaither scored 11 points.
After the first quarter, Cleveland State trailed Motlow State 16-10 and by halftime, they were down 35-25.
The Lady Cougars were held to just six points in the third quarter, while Motlow put up 17 more. Cleveland State outscored their opponents 14-12 in the fourth quarter.
