CLEVELAND STATE ATHLETICS AT AWARDS NIGHT

The Cleveland State Athletic Department honored five student athletes at this year's Student Awards night held this past Friday in the Johnson Center.

The first award was the George L. Mathis Scholastic Award.  It is presented to a female and male sophomore athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average over two years while participating in intercollegiate athletics.  This year's awards went to Haley Hodgson of the softball team and Devon Gardner of the baseball team.

The next award was the L. Quentin Lane Sportsmanship Award.  It is presented to a female or male athlete who exhibits outstanding attitude, conduct, and team spirit.  The award this year went to Catherine Davis of the women's basketball team.

The final awards were for Athlete of the Year.  The Hugh Walker Award went to the female athlete who embodies character, a positive attutude, reaches athletic achievement in their particular sport and has attained academic success in their program of studey.  The award was presented to Leisa Butler of the women's basketball team.  The D.F. Adkisson Award goes to the male athlete.  This year, the award was presented to Jordan Olison of the men's basketball team.
