COUGARS DROP 6-5 CONTEST WITH GORDON
The Cougars dropped their second contest of the year to the Highlanders of Gordon College on a cloudy Tuesday afternoon by a 6-5 final. The Cougars put up three runs in the bottom of the fourth as Chase Edwards, Cody Hiefnar, and Evan Speicher each drove in a run.
The Cougars scored single runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth inning on a groundout RBI by J.D. Cowart and a single by Hiefnar. They had a chance to tie the game on a two-out single by Speicher, but Hiefnar was thrown out at the plate stopping the rally.
Edwards and Hiefnar were the only Cougars with two hits. Edwards would also score two runs while Hiefnar had 2 RBIs. Tyler Kilgore came in relief to pitch 5 and 2/3 innings of shutout relief. He would strike out three and walk while surrendering four hits.
