COUGARS FALL IN OPENER TO WALTERS 8-1
The Cougars fell in their opener of their weekend series against the Senators of Walters State by a final of 8-1. Cleveland State never led in the game as their hosts put up 2 runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Cleveland State finally cracked the scoreboard in the seventh inning when Colby Harmon scored on a Cody Hiefnar fielder's choice groundout. The Cougars managed only six hits in the game. Michael Hargrove would have two of the hits.
Brandon Zajac was the tough luck loser as he pitched four innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits. Only six of the runs were earned. He also struck out 6 and walked 3 batters. Hadyn Bailey pitched the final four innings, surrendering only one run on three hits.
