COUGARS STAY PERFECT IN CONFERENCE WITH OVERTIME WIN AGAINST PIONEERS
Cleveland State was able to maintain a perfect conference record as they fought back in the second half, but needed overtime to take an 85-76 victory over Volunteer State.
The Cougars struggled in the first half from the field, but managed to only be down 41-33 as the teams headed to the lockerrooms at the break. Cleveland State would slowly cut the deficit at the start of the second half before taking the lead with five minutes to play. The Pioneers Alex Marzette would send the game into overtime with a floater in the lane with four seconds to go in regulation.
Cleveland State would hold the visitors withut a field goal in the overtime while hustling for second chance points to secure the victory.
Travis Jones and Trey Suttles would the lead the team in scoring with 22 points apiece. Jones would hand out four assists and grab six rebounds while Suttles would lead the team in rebounds with nine as well as collecting five steals. Ralph Eason would be next in scoring with 15 points. He also had five rebounds and six steals in the contest. Xavier Okoro would come off the bench to score 12 points, seven of those coming in the overtime.
