COUGARS USE BIG SECOND HALF TO DEFEAT SNEAD 66-64
Cleveland State was able to avenge their first loss of the season as they fought back from a large second half deficit to win late 66-64 over the visting Parsons.
The Cougars struggled in the first half as they were able to connect on only 9 of 29 shots from the field. Their visitors took advantage of their height advantage and shooting from three-point range (6 of 10 from behind the arc) to run out to a 34-22 lead at the half.
Snead's lead would grow to as much as 16 points in the second half before the Cougars began to fight back. Cleveland State came out with full court pressure which rattled the Parsons into turnovers. The Cougars would claw their way back and get back in striking range with six minutes to play. A missed shot by Snead and rebound by Travis Jones resulted in a free throw opportunity to take the lead. Jones made both for a 65-64 lead with 48 seconds to play.
Jones would make one of two free throws at six seconds before knocking away a possible shot attempt by the Parsons with four seconds to play to secure the win. Jones and Filipe Goncalves would lead the way with 13 points apiece. Goncalves would score all of his points in the second half. Jones would also have five assists and five rebounds in the game. Ralph Eason would finish with 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in the win. Gabe Dando would also reach double digits with 11 points.
