COUGARS BACK TO WINNING WAYS OVER ROANE STATE
The Cougars got back to their winning ways as they staved off a furious comeback by the Raiders of Roane State to pick up the victory 72-67. The win ended a three game losing streak by Cleveland State.
The Cougars led by three, 33-30, at halftime over the taller Raiders due to their hard and aggressive play. After the break, they would build the lead to as many as 16 in the second half before their visitors made a late push to the close the game to the final margin. It was an uptempo, full court defense by the Cougars that helped them stretch the lead.
Ralph Eason would lead four scorers in double digits with 17 points. He also contributed five rebounds and four assists in the win. Filipe Goncalves would follow with 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting form the field which included 3 of 6 from three point range.
Trey Suttles would finish with 14 points and lead the squad with six rebounds. Travis Jones would round out the top scorers with 13 points. He also pulled down five rebounds, had four assists, and three steals.
