Developmental League 2014
Cleveland State Baseball
is offering the opportunity, for high school age players in
grades 9 through 12 to develop their skill through an intensive
five week program of practice and games. The main
focus of the league will be to provide players with
instruction and game experience giving them a platform to work on
skills through game and practice repetitions.
Players will participate in a
pro-style workout, have three scheduled practices and play in
league games. During the five week league, individual teams
will play two games per week or one game and one practice per
week. The games will be played during the week, Monday or
Tuesday and Thursday. A league schedule will be available at
registration. During the week games will begin at 5:30 and conclude
at 7:30.
The league will be limited to 30
players. For transportation conveniences, players from
respective high schools will be kept together. Rosters will
be balanced based on players’ ages and positions. Each
player will be required to declare a first, second, and third
position choice. Team rosters should not exceed 15 players.
Players will receive instruction during games, and go over
specific skills with their coaches prior to or after their
game. Because instruction topics vary from base running to
position specific skills, the instruction time is very
valuable. Instruction will be provided by CSCC coaches and
players.
A few special rules govern the games. 1) To promote
aggressive play, each batter will begin an at-bat with a 1-1
count. 2) Every player on the team will bat.
Every attempt will be made to insure everyone plays several innings
defensively. 3) Games are limited to 7 innings.
There is a 1 hour and 30 time limit. Extra innings will not
be played after the time limit has expired.
Each player will be required to bring his own spikes, baseball
pants, glove, bat, and hat. In need based situations, we can
provide a few helmets, catching gear, and bats to be used during
the game only. Game jerseys will be provided prior to the
first game.
