ZAJAC, EDWARDS GARNER ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
The TCCAA (Tennessee Community College Athletic Association) recently announced the selections for All-Conference. Pitcher Brandon Zajac and outfielder Chase Edwards both secured spots on the first team. In addition, Zajac was also named the TCCAA Pitcher of the Year.
Zajac, who transferred this season, finished the year with a 6-4 record. He had an ERA of 3.17 as he allowed 25 earned runs in 71 innings pitched. He struck out 88 batters while holding opposing batters to a .200 batting average. He started 12 games, going the distance in two which included one shutout.
Edwards, a two year starter at Cleveland State, appeared in 46 games this year, and finished with a team high .405 batting average. He had 19 doubles, two triples, and three home runs as a sophomore. He led the team with 33 RBIs. He also scored 29 runs and had 12 stolen bases on the season. He will leave Cleveland State with a .368 career batting average.
"I am happy for both Brandon and Chase for being named to the All TCCAA Team and Brandon being recognized as the top pitcher in the league," noted Head Coach Mike Policastro. "They both had outstanding years and were deserving of their recognition."
