The Cougars fell to the Eagles 3-0 in the first game and then 8-0 in the second.
"Dyersburg pitched and played well – we could not solve their pitching (Sunday)," Cleveland State coach Mike Policastro said.
"They were able to capitalize on free bases in both games."
Cleveland State (29-16, 11-12) and Dyersburg State (40-4, 21-1) finish up the series at noon on Monday.
In the first game, the Eagles put up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. They picked up their third and final run in the fourth.
The Cougars managed just three hits in game one, with Cameron Payne going 2-for-3 at the plate and Brandon Mason going 1-for-2.
Hooper Mills (6-5) took the loss, throwing in five innings.
Cleveland State was unable to hold back Dyersburg State's bats in the second game.
The Eagles drove in a run in both the first and second innings, then picked up four more in the fourth and finished their scoring off with two runs in the fifth.
The Cougars outhit the Eagles 6-5, but were unable to capitalize on any of those hits.
Payne went 2-for-3 at the plate, Jordan Ransom was 2-for-3, and Billy Brand and Mason each had a hit.
Pitcher Jake Rogers (8-1) picked up his first loss of the season, throwing for four innings and giving up four earned runs on three hits.
