COUGARS STAY UNBEATEN; DEFEAT 7TH RANKED SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE
Cleveland State opened their conference play and stayed undefeated as they outhustled the 7th ranked Southwest Tennessee Saluquis by an 81-73 final.
After taking a 43-35 lead in the first twenty minutes, the Cougars saw their vistors take the lead at 60-59 midway through the second half. After retaking the lead, the Cougars fought for and came up with every loose ball to maintain a five point cushion. Cleveland put the game away late as they connected on crucial free throws in the final two minutes.
Elijah Weems (pictured) led the Cougars in scoring with 28 points. He also collected five rebounds. Victor Curry was next in scoring with 17 points, and completed a double double by leading the team with 12 rebounds.
Tevin Olison also reached double digits with 16 points and had seven rebounds. Cam Copeland led the team with eight assists. Tevin Olison and Romero Hill each collected three steals.
