DYERSBURG, Tenn. – Cleveland State closed out its regular season with an important conference win over Dyersburg State this weekend.
The 63-47 win over the Eagles gave the Cougars an overall record of 15-9 and 9-9 TCCAA record, for sixth place in the conference. The win was a welcome turnaround following the Cougars 94-59 loss on Friday to Southwest Tennessee.
"it was a better effort after a disappointing showing in Friday's game," head coach Lee Cigliano said.
"Jordan Olison hit some big shots for us during the game and we got key minutes off the bench from Tucker Bass and Jordan Williams. We need to work to improve in some areas during this next week for the upcoming tournament."
The first half got out to an evenly-matched start, as both Cleveland State and Dyersburg State put up 33 points by halftime.
The Cougars dominated the second half, scoring 30 more points while allowing their hosts only 14 points.
Olison finished with 19 points, sinking five 3-pointers, while Romero Hill had 15 points and three steals in the game. Victor Curry had 11 rebounds.
The TCCAA tournament begins on March 6, at Walters State Community College.
