Cleveland State Golf Ends in 12th at the National tournament
Cleveland State Golf moved up three spots from their 2022 Nationals finish by completing the 2023 National Tournament competition in 12th place with team scores of 293, 313, 310 and 306 for a four day total of 1222.
The Division II National Tournament from May 23-26 was played on the par 72 Black Course at the Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth Indiana and was won by Kirkwood Community College in the field of 22. Kirkwood was the only college to finish with sub 300 team scoring rounds in each of the four days.
Individually the Cougars were led by Reese McFatter who shot a +13 with a best score of 72 on day one. Dalton shot a best day score on day two of 73 finishing at a +16 with Cain Stover at a +17 shooting a 72 on day four. Owen Krueger scored a 73 on day one and finished at a +27 as Nic Ravnborg came in at a +32 with a best day score of 74 on day one.
Other notable team finishes in the top 10 at the tournament included Parkland College, South Mountain, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Glendale, Des Moines Area CC, Heartland, Alexandria Tech, Walters State and Roane State.
As the 2022-2023 year ends the five Cougar participants at the Nationals included two freshmen in McFatter and Krueger while Sutton, Stover and Ravnborg are sophomores.
