FORMER COUGARS PRYOR & CASTEEL START MLB SEASON AT AAA LEVEL
Steven Pryor and Ryan Casteel, former Cougar baseball players, will start their 2015 professional year at their respective AAA farm teams. Pryor will start the year with the Rochester Red Wings of the Minnesota Twins organization while Casteel will be with the Albuquerque Isotopes, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies organization.
Pryor, who spent the first part of his career with the Seattle organization was dealt to the Twins late last year. He has spent his time in professional baseball at both the major and minor league level. His minor league stats show a 7-5 record through 138 appearances. He has thrown 182.1 innings in that time with a 3.41 ERA and 217 strikeouts. As a major leaguer, he made 34 appearnaces for the Mariners with a 3-1 record. He had 32.1 innings pitched with a 2.81 ERA and 35 strikeouts.
Casteel has progressed through the Rockies organization in his five years. He has seen time behind the plate, first base, designated hitter, and the outfield during this time. He has been a nonroster invitee with with big club for the last two springs. As a professional, he has a career .279 batting average. He has hit 44 homeruns, but 38 have come in the last two years. He also had 212 RBIs with 132 of those coming in the last two years.
