Cleveland State Survives Elimination
The Cougars eliminated Jackson State from the TCCAA Tournament with a 6-5 victory.
In a TCCAA tournament elimination game the Cougars survived by defeating Jackson State 9-8.
Cleveland State jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first six innings before Jackson State rallied, tying it up in the top of the eighth on an RBI single driven in by third baseman Ryan Helgren.
Cougars shortstop Janson Roberson drove in what turned out to be the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI double.
Kegan Frederick earned the victory pitching the final three innings allowing one earned run striking out four.
Cleveland State plays tormorrow at 1 p.m. against the loser of tonight's matchup between Walters State and Volunteer State. The tournament is held at Chattanooga State Community College.
