WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WINS ON THE ROAD 69-49
The Cougars made the teek to the mountains of northeast Georiga Monday afternoon for a game against the junior varsity of Young Harris. After a slow start, the ladies came out with a 69-49 victory.
Trailing early in the game, the Cougars finally tied the contest at 11 midway through the first quarter. They would lead 18-13 after the first quarter, and would expnad it to 35-16 at the break by outscoring their opponents 17-3 in the second quarter.
Mar'Nazha Houston led a quartet of scorers in double digit with 21 points. She was followed by Ziara Thompson with 18 while Sloan Pender and Kennedy Baker finished with 13 and 10 points.
Baker would leaad the way with nine rebounds while Houston would be next with eight boards. Macie Collins would collect seven rebounds in the game while Damoni Kpana had six for the day.
Pender would lead the team with five assists while Kpana dished out four in the contest. Thompson and Houston each had two steals in the game.
The ladies return to action on Wednesday, December 3, when they host the Bucks of Motlow State. Game time is set for 5:30pm EST.
