The women's basketball team had opportunities during the week as they held their own against league leading Walters State 74-59 on Wednesday, before falling late against Columbia in a 58-55 loss. The losses put the team's overall record at 11-10 overall and 5-8 in conference.
In their contest against Walters, they held a 37-33 at the half before being outscored 41-22 in the second half.
Sloan Pender and Mar'Nazha Houston led the way with 14 points each. Kennedy Baker and Macie Collins each reached double digits with ten points.
Baker, Houston, and Collins each recorded a double-double as Baker had 12 rebounds, and Houston and Collins finished with 11 and 10 boards.
Collins and Kayla Lopez each had four assists in the game while Collins led the team with three steals.
In their matchup against Columbia, The Cougars held a six point lead late in the game only to see their opponents end the game on a 9-0 run to seure the win.
