COUGARS BLAST VOL STATE AT HOME, 101-73
The men's basketball team earned a big conference win on Saturday as they defeated Vol State 101-73. The win improves the squad's overall record to 10-12 and their conference record to 6-10.
All eleven Cougars scored in the win as they never trailed in the contest, and took alead three minutes into the game that they never relinquished. They would shoot 57.6% for the game; conneting on 38 of 68 shots from the field which included 15 of 27 from three-point range.
Four Cougars reached double figures led by Xavier Washington with 23 points. Pharez Nicholas came of the bench to tally 18 points on a perfect night from the field. Ramireon Taylor also came off the bench with 14 points. Jacob Turner finished the game with 12 points.
Brandon Lanier scored eight points, and led the team with nine rebounds. Kedrick Franklin also tallied eight points and finished with seven boards.
Seneca Robinson led the team with six assists followed by Taylor with four as well. A.J. Horton and Carson Boyle both contributed three assists in the game. Robinson and Turner each had two steals in the contest.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday as they travel to take on the Raiders of Roane State in Harriman. Game time is set for 7:30pm EST.
