The Cougars were beaten in the first round of the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament as they fell to Southwest Tennessee 80-76 in overtime. With the loss, the Cougars end the season with a 12-15 overall record.
The contest was highly competitive as both teams held leads in the first half with Cleveland taking aone point lead at the half. The second half was a repeat of the first half with both tems taking leads. Both teams had an opportunity at the end of regulation, but shotsa fell sahort. In the overtime, Southwest would hit crucial three3-pointers to maintain the lead and secure the win.
Kedrick Franklin led the team with 17 points. Three other scorers reached double figures as Brandon Lanier added 14, Xavier Washington had 13, A.J. Horton finished with ten points.
Lanier finished with 14 rebounds followed by Franklin with nine, and Jacob Turner with eight. Horton had three assists to lead the squad while Lanier had three steals in the contest.
