CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Cleveland State Community College dropped a TCCAA doubleheader to Chattanooga State on Tuesday at Cougar Field, falling by scores of 5–4 and 9–6.
In Game 1, the Cougars stayed within striking distance throughout but Chattanooga State was able to hold on late for the one-run victory. Cleveland State continued to apply pressure offensively and had opportunities to bring across the tying run, but the Tigers made enough plays to edge out the win.
The second game followed a similar script as Cleveland State showed resilience despite falling behind early. The Cougars answered with multiple scoring innings and continued to fight back, but Chattanooga State responded with timely hits to preserve the 9–6 final.
Head Coach Aaron Bryant credited his team's effort while noting the missed opportunities across both games.
"We didn't play our best baseball, but I never questioned our fight," Bryant said. "We had chances in both games and just didn't make one or two plays you need against a good club. We'll learn from it and be better moving forward."
Cleveland State will look to regroup quickly as conference play continues this week at Dyersburg State.
