The Cleveland State volleyball tem opened their 2025 campaignon the road at the Three Rivers Classic hostee by Georgia Highlands College in Rome (GA). The Lady Cougars ame away with two impressive wins. In their first match of the day against Andrew College, they swept them in three sets (3-0) by scores of 25-19, 25-16, & 25-23. They also swept the host Georgia Highlands in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-7, & 25-8.
In the Georgia Highlands contest, the Lady Cougars used a solid team effort in seccuring the win. Zowee dillard led the team with nine kills and two servicce aces. Aaliyah Rodgers was next with eight kills followed by Jayla Gillespie and Saylor Clark with five kills. Gillespie also had tow service aces. Both Piper Bowers and Caroline church each had three digs while Bowers had 22 assists with two service aces. Elanee Cotter led the team with three service aces.
In the earlier match against Andrew, it was a battle of two established programs with the Lady Cougars pulling out wins in three tough games. Rodgers and Clark led the way with 12 and 10 kills in the victory. Dillard was next with eight kills. Bowers led the squad with 33 assists, 11 digs, and five service aces. Rodgers had three aces while Megan Crocker had two.
The Lady Cougars next opponent will be Trvecca Nazarene University on Tuesday, September 2. It will be the home opener for Cleveland State.
