VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS WALTERS 3-1; UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE PLAY
The volleyball team went on the road tuesday night to finish out conference play. The Cougars lost the first set of the match, but came back to defeat Walters 3-1. That brought the team's conference record to a perfect 12-0 on the season while reaching the 20 win plateau overall at 20-1.
The Cougars started slowly as they lost the first set to the Senators 25-17 before evening the match by taking the second set, 25-16. They would win the third set by the same score, 25-16, as the second set. The fourth set started out back and forth before Cleveland would slowly build their lead late in the set. they would close out the match by winning 25-18 in the clinching set.
Zowee Dillard led the way with 14 kills. She also had 20 digs and one solo block. Elanee cotter would have 13 kills as well as a solo block. Aaliyah Rodgers would return from injury and have 12 kills with 15 digs and a solo block and two block assists. Piper Bowers would dish out 33 assists and 26 digs.
On the defensive side, Isabella Messer would lead with 34 digs while Megan Crocker would reach double figures with ten. Bowers would lead the way with four service aces while Caroline Church would have a service ace to go with 3 solo blocks and two block assists.
The Cougars will be back in action this Saturday as the will take on Snead State in non conference action. Match time is set for 11am EST. There will be a recognition of the sophomore class prior to the match. Live stream will be available through the Hudl link on the website.
