VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW: WALTERS SHOWDOWN HIGHLIGHTS THREE GAME HOME STAND
Cougar volleyball will play three home games tis week highlighted by their final conference match of the first half against the defending region champs Walters State on tuesday. They will turn around and face Gadsden State on Wednesday night before hosting Northwest Shoals on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars remain unbeaten on the season with an 11-0 overall record and 5-0 in conference play. They are averaging 12.41 kills per set with a .244 hitting percentage. They are averaging 11.56 assists per set as well as 2.94 service aces and 16.50 digs.
aaliyah Rodgers lads the team with 112 kills iwth Zowee Dillard second with 91. Piper Bowers leads the team with 270 assists with Isabella Messer next with 41 passes. Messer leads the squad with 151 digs and Bowers is next with 83. Caroline Church and Kennedy Caudill lead the team in total blocks with 22 & 21 on the season. Messer nd Bowers both have 19 service aces on the season while Rodgers is next with 17.
Walters State will come into their matchup with a 7-10 overall record with a conference record of 2-3. The Senators are averaging 10.22 kills per set with a .164 kill percentage. They average 9.50 assists a set with 2.20 service aces and 16.97 digs on the season. They have 118 total blocks this year. Match time is set for 6pm EST.
Gadsden State will come in with an 11-8 overall record. They average 9.75 kills a set with a .143 kill percentage. They average 8.92 assists, 1.62 service aces, and 14.96 digs per set. They have 107 total blocks in their 19 matches this season. Match time is set for 6:30pm EST.
Northwest Shoals will come in Saturday with a 4-16 record. They average 5.51 kills per set with a .044 hitting percentage. They average 3.38 assists, .074 service aces, and 9.78 digs per set. They have 24 total blocks on the season. Match time on Saturday will be at 2pm EST.
