VOLLEYBALL WINS REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP WITH THREE SET VICTORY
The Cougar volleyball made history last night as they defeated Pellissippi State 3-0 in a highly competitive match. With the victory, the Cougars became the 2025 TCCAA regular season champions. This is the first regular season championship in the program's history.
They currently have an 18-1 overall record with an 11-0 conference record. They surpassed the total number of victories in a season which was set in the first year of the program. They will be the #1 seed in this year's region tournament fter being the lowest seed in last year's event.
The Cougars won the first set 25-16. The set was tied at 11 before the team went on 6-0 run to pull away. They won the second set 25-20, but held a ten point lead (17-7) before the Panthers closed the gap late in the set. They won the third and final set 26-24. I was the closest of sets as both squads had leads late in the set. Pellissippi would lead 24-23 before Cleveland would score the final three points for the victory.
Zowee Dillard ledthe team with 15 kills. She would also have 14 digs, two service aces, and three total blocks in the contest. Elanee Cotter would finish with nine kills while Kennedy Caudill had six on the night. Piper Bowers had 17 assists and 21 digs to lead the team as well as four kills and two service aces.
Isabella Messer had 17 digs and five assists in the contest. Caroline Church led the team with four service aces. Brooklyn Mathis two service aces along with nine assists and eight digs.
The volleyball team travels to Crown College on Saturday with a 2pm EST start time.
