COUGAR VOLLEYBALL STAYS HOT; DEFEATS JACKSON STATE IN STRAIGHT SETS
The Cougar volleyball team continued their amazing start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Jackson State on Saturday afternnon. With the win, they raised their record to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
They earned the sweep with scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-16. The first set start with Jackson taking an early lead, but the Cougars managed to get even midway through the first set. They managed to build a lead as they closed out the first set. The next two sets were back and forth early before Cleveland managed to pull away late in both sets.
For the ougars, Zowee Dillard led the attack with 13 kills followed Aaliyah Rodgers with 11. Middle hitters Caroline Church and Kennedy Caudill were next with eight ad seven kills. Piper Bowers led the way with 37 assists and seven digs.
Isabella Messer led the team with 14 digs and joined Megan Crocker, Rodgers, and Dillard each with a service ace. Church led the way with seven total blocks.
The team will back in action on Monday as they host Bryan College in a no conference match. Match time is set for 6:30pm EST, and will be available through the Hudl link at cs.cougars.com.
